Bristol Bay is probably one of the World’s most famous sport fishing areas. In addition, it is certainly one of Alaska’s premier fishing destinations. Most of the fishing in Bristol Bay is done by floatplane and motor boats used for transportation to the "Hot" spots daily then wading and working the holes from the gravel bars and banks. Other lodges will float an isolated stream or river for that Trophy Leopard Rainbow Trout. It is here in southwestern Alaska that the true Fly Fisherman is in his/her element. Most of the time the only people you will see each day are the folks you sat across from at the breakfast table. This is a True Anglers paradise.

Because of the distance from Anchorage, all of the fishing in  Bristol Bay is done from fly in lodges. It is impossible to  fly out daily from Anchorage in a float plane and reach these isolated waterways. Whenever you add an airplane to the mix, it will raise the cost of your trip considerably. Remember you are paying for an airplane and pilot, and the daily expense of operation. But if your budget can handle it, you will experience fishing that few anglers ever do. To maximize airplane usage most of the lodges in Bristol Bay operate on a week (7days) stay. Saturday to Saturday is the standard; although it can vary from lodge to lodge. The price range at the lodges we recommend in the Bristol Bay area is from $2,800 to $6,200 per person for your stay. It’s not that you “get what you pay for”, I like to think that you “pay for what you get,” And first class lodging and service coupled with World class fishing is what you will experience when you stay with one of our folks in the Bristol Bay/southwestern Alaska Region.

You will experience daily flights out to a different river at some lodges, while at others you may only fly out from the lodge once or twice during your stay. It depends on the time of year, what salmon are running and where the fishing is BEST. The Bristol Bay area supports salmon runs like no where else in Alaska. All 5 species of Pacific Salmon return to the waters of Bristol Bay and because most of the lodges have there own aircraft accessibility to them all is no problem. Certain runs are stronger depending on the area of the State you visit but GoFishingAlaska.com can help guide you to the right lodge with the right level of service for your needs. The Alaska Peninsula supports a strong run of Silver Salmon as do most of the rivers in Bristol Bay but knowing these little secrets can benefit you and make your trip even more memorable. The run of King Salmon on the Nushagak River is incredible in Mid June and the Sockeye run in the Iliamna area is world famous. Western Alaskan waters support some of the World's Record Rainbow Trout,  many of which have never seen an artificial fly.   Dolly Varden and Arctic Grayling also inhabit most of the river systems in southwestern Alaska and are the bonus to any anglers trip.

You can expect some of the finest dining in the world right  at the foot of the Alaska Range or with the Wood/Tikchik State Park as a backdrop for your appetizers. Most of these lodges employ world-class chefs that conjure up everything from Prime Rib to Alaskan King Crab to things I can't pronounce. Fresh sheets on your bed nightly, cocktails by the fireplace where you’ll hear Alaskan War stories (True ones in Dutch Harbor) and fly fishing lessons for the novice or if you just want to try some new techniques. Anything you could dream of in a secluded, remote, first class fishing lodge is located in Bristol Bay, and GoFishingAlaska.com can guide you to the right one that fits your needs, or the needs of your family or clients. Some lodges will do shorter stays, it depends on which week you are looking for and how many people are in your party.
