Nestled
peacefully at the head of Orca Inlet in Prince William Sound, this
area will dazzle you with glacier-carved mountains, wildlife-rich
wetlands, lush forests, and countless waterways.
May is prime saltwater King Salmon and
Halibut combinations.
In late June and July day trips to the upper
headwaters, a world-class river system offers action
packed salmon
fishing. Combine both fresh and salt-water fishing with professional guides, and first-rate
equipment makes this a trip of a lifetime.
A cannery town originally
built in the 1880's, Orca has recently been rebuilt into Alaska's
finest adventure destination. While retaining its historical flavor,
Orca has full amenities to offer the most discerning guest.
The main lodge
offers newly renovated rooms, private bathrooms and excellent dining
in a magical maritime setting.
Each of
the thirty four rooms, have great ocean views. Lodge chef and crew cook
up delectable delights in the cannery cookhouse next door, while great
guides offer unique and safe excursions into the wilds of Alaska.
Fishing the
protected waters of Prince William Sound is a pleasurable
experience.
From a private dock, embark on daily departures for both deep sea
and stream fishing destinations via boat. Fishing trips
include salmon filled streams within the orca Inlet area as well as
fishing the shallow waters for halibut. While these fish are
typically smaller than their gulf cousins, the fun of catching fish
within a few miles of your base can’t be beat! Salt water
trips fall into two types, deep sea and stream fishing, both
utilizing a highly modified high speed boat to transport you.
Numerous fresh water streams test all skill levels with either spin
and fly fishing. Summer fishing trips see the greatest variety of
fish with incredible numbers of fish returning to the 40 rivers that
can be accessed from the lodge. In the fall, from mid August
Silver Salmon are in abundance. Saltwater fishing expeditions
include halibut, salmon and rockfish.
Fly out fishing adventures are
offered daily as well. These guided
trips take you farther a field. Your
flight will take you over fantastic
terrain to either a remote lake or
river. Opportunities for either
salmon or trout fishing are
available.
