Wilderness Place Lodge on Lake Creek - a comfortable, full-service Alaska fishing lodge in a remote, road-less setting. What do you imagine when you hear the word Alaska? Vast wilderness, tranquility, peacefulness, nature, fly fishing… definitely a total escape. The new main lodge is a distinctive log building offering guests a comfortable and spacious setting for dining and relaxing. Lake Creek is a clear, gravel-bottom river filled with all five of the Pacific salmon species during different times of the summer. This area also has excellent native rainbow trout, grayling and northern pike fishing throughout the summer.

The Fishing:
Fish for king salmon  (Chinook) in June and early July. Also in July you can fish for northern pike, rainbows and grayling until the silvers (Coho), chum and pink salmon  arrive near the end of the month. August is devoted to silver salmon with pinks and chums in abundance. Although rainbow and grayling are in the stream all season, mid-August through early September is the peak season for these species. Wilderness Place Lodge guides are well versed in all aspects of both spin fishing and fly-fishing for Alaskan species. The lodge has a fully equipped tackle shop with high quality rental equipment for both spin and fly-fishing. Those anglers new to fly-fishing will find careful instruction readily available from the lodge’s staff.

The lodge has a completely equipped fly tying bench. They can assist anglers in creating any of the popular Alaskan patterns. Rainbow trout fishing at Lake Creek are protected by catch and release regulations, which insures that there will always be splendid wild rainbow trout fishing for generations to come.  Lake Creek offers all five species of Pacific Salmon running right past your cabin along with beautiful Rainbows and Grayling in early and late summer. So depending on when you come will determine the fish you will be catching. The  Salmon start running in June with the Kings leading the charge, followed by Reds in late July, and then Pinks, Silver, and Chum Salmon in August. Before and after the run the native Rainbow and Grayling populations are in abundance.

The lodge has a modern professional caliber kitchen from which the lodge’s highly regarded chefs prepare the best of Alaskan cuisine. They offer a full range of popular West Coast wines and  beers and strive to serve the best selection of Alaskan and Pacific Coast entrees. The professional chef features dishes of fresh-caught Lake Creek Salmon, Alaskan Halibut, Prime Rib, and hearty extras necessary to  accompany hungry fishermen. Enjoy a glass of fine wine before dinner, and a fresh cup of gourmet café coffee to balance out a hearty dinner. Optional in-camp breakfast is  served at 8 a.m. every morning for those not on the water. For early risers, a hot breakfast is delivered to you streamside while you fish. Dinner is served at the lodge at 6:00 pm to allow for evening fishing afterwards.
